Obituary

Bethany Anne (Kerr) Reynolds (71) of Lake Odessa passed from this life on Wednesday, September 30th, 2026. Born January 8th, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, Bethany was the youngest of four children of Alexander Keith Kerr and Hilda Marcele (Harris) Kerr of Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Bethany graduated Grand Blanc High School in 1973, where she met her best friend for life, Lynn (Nelson) Hummel, and was active in the school choir. After high school, Bethany attended Anderson College and Montcalm Community College. Bethany studied Early Childhood Education, going on to work for Head Start and volunteer with Agape Home School Group. She took immense pride in helping shape the lives of children, but her proudest accomplishments were her daughters, Julie, Lindsay, and Patti, upon whom she bestowed her unwavering support, her hilarious sense of humor, and a deep bond of family.

As wonderful of a mother as she was to her girls, she was an even more amazing grandmother in her role as Mimi to her grandchildren, Nolan (21), Caidyn (19), Ellery (12), Meredith (9), John (6), and Henry (4). Mimi loved attending Nolan’s football games. On sleepover getaways at Mimi’s, Caidyn and Mimi shared their mutual affinity for sarcastic humor, their favorite shows, and respite in time with one another. Mimi loved attending Ellery’s dance recitals, encouraging her artwork, and sharing their own shows together. Meredith was her Mimi’s favorite gymnast and Mimi was her staunchest supporter. They loved watching football and FIFA together. John and Mimi would spend Saturday mornings watching fishing shows, and whenever John disappeared, it was usually to Mimi’s. Mimi also adored her visits from Henry, who’d come across the yard to Mimi’s place for hugs, popsicles, and to walk her dog, Jaxson.

Bethany will be remembered for her enormous heart and her generous nature. Whether a stranger, friend, or family member, once you met her, you were her family. To know her was to understand the meaning of unconditional love and acceptance. She was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, and enjoyed watching games with her brother, her niece, and her grandkids.

She had a deep love of music, especially Barbra Streisand and James Taylor. She shared this love with her daughters, each of whom she left with fond childhood memories of being awoken to their mother’s morning wake-up serenades and guided to sleep at night with her lullabies.

Bethany is preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Hilda, her eldest brother, A. Keith Kerr Jr., her brother-in-law Keith Clark, and her nephew Jason Bays. She is survived by her daughters Julie (Wight) Dare and husband Kyle Dare of Los Angeles, CA, Lindsay Wight of Hastings, MI, and Patti (McCormick) Beglin and husband Casey Beglin of Lake Odessa, Michigan; older siblings Bonny Clark of Pendleton, Indiana, and Douglas Kerr and his wife Sherri of Kokomo, Indiana; her six grandchildren; nieces Kirsten, Katie, Jennie, and Alison, nephews Shane, Kyle, and Bradley; her cousins Connie Winston, Jeff Kerr, and Helen Kerr; and her beloved canine son, Jaxson.

A memorial for Bethany will be held on Tuesday, October 6th from 5-8 PM at The Loft - 1037 4th Ave, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Cards of condolence may be covered in stickers and sent with love to: 1650 W. Henderson Rd. Lake Odessa, MI 48849.
