Bertha Louise (Martin) Kruizenga, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025.
Bertha was born on October 12, 1932, in Camden, Missouri. She lived a long life rooted in family, faith, and quiet devotion to the people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Ruby, Dorothy, May, Fay, Bob, and Bill; her beloved husband of 33 years, Fredrick "Fritz" Kruizenga; and her son, Cris Westphal.
Bertha is survived by her loving children, Cindy (Dennis) Lutz and Steven Westphal; and her grandchildren Bradley (Amanda) Lutz, David (Casey) Lutz, Daniel (Elizabeth) Lutz, Branden (Katie) Lutz, Bryan (Emily) Lutz, Benjamin (Bethany) Lutz, Brett (Stephenie) Lutz, Blake (Dunia) Lutz, Brennan Lutz, Jacqueline Lutz, Colson (Elizabeth) Lutz, Victoria Lutz, Justin Westphal, Alanea Enlow, and CJ (Danielle) Westphal; and her sisters Joyce Martin and Jane (Roger) Anthony.
She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: Wilson, Walker, Franklin, Lincoln, Breeze, River, Wesson, Jase, Ava, Macie, Barrett, Brecken, Sage, McCoy, Thatcher, Colbran, Creede, Maverick, Kennedy, Porter, McClane, Leighton, Lowen, Lillian, Eleanor, and Evelyn Lutz; Aimee and Malcolm Westphal; Emmett, Zeke, and Hadley Enlow. As well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Bertha found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved card games and puzzles, was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and enjoyed quilting. One of her most treasured traditions was writing round-robin letters to her sisters—a testament to the deep bonds she shared with family.
Bertha will be remembered for her steady presence, her love of family, and the legacy she leaves through the many generations who carry her name and spirit forward.
