Benjamin Lee Groenhof, Sr, age 82, died after a brief illness on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his brother Eugene, his sister-in-law Hazel and his parents Martin & Agnes (Stremler) Groenhof.

He is survived by his children, Deb & Rick Kennedy, Benjamin Groenhof Jr, Jodi Groenhof, Brian & Valerie Groenhof, Beverly Overway, Elaine & Randy Evans, Beth & Eric Green and Curt & Tracy Brower; Grandchildren: Carrie (Cris), Eric (Rachel), Jenna (Alex), Abby (Brent), Benji (Asha), Cassie, Aron, Brad (Aubrey), Nathaniel, Gordon, Joe, Sarah, Jason (Ashley), Peter, Claire, Travis, Brandon (Kate) and Hannah, as well as 13 great-grandchildren. Additionally, his brother, Jerry & Ruth Groenhof and sister-in-law, Bonnie & Fred Johnson, plus many cousins and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.

Benjamin lived his entire life within the Holland-Zeeland area. He graduated from Zeeland High School and ran his own business for a number of years. He worked at Holland Hospital until his retirement. Ben enjoyed sailing when he was younger and often went down the road to Lake Michigan for the view. He loved to drive around the countryside to just see what was there. Over the last few years, he has enjoyed game night with his friends and socializing.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17 at 11am with visitation starting at 10am at Central Wesleyan Church Door G.
