It is with fullest anguish and lament that we announce the sudden death of Barry Robert Smith on Sunday, July 15th at the age of 50 from complications with Heart Disease. Barry is preceded in death by his mother Christine Ann Smith and his father Robert Dale Smith. He is survived by his son Barry Jr.; his sister Jamie and her children Aaron and Claire; his sister Kayse and brother-in-law Ron, and their children Adam, Alex, and Brooke; and his sister Kelly and brother-in-law Larry Scheib, and Kelly's children Andrew, Paige, and Carly. Thinking of Barry, those close to him will first call him intelligent, compassionate, forthright, and sincere; but above all, they would know that for as long as he lived, he loved with everything he had, at full capacity and with no conditions. He will be remembered as a man who never forgot a birthday, who always listened carefully, and who never faltered in the face of family need and friendly request. The pilot of his own life, Barry would forever put his family and friends first, himself second; he bolstered those around him to a place of celebrity, teaching ultimately never to speak ill of those we have chosen to love and appreciate. A Celebration of Barry's Life will be held on Saturday, July 21st at 6PM at 1453 40th Street SW, Wyoming, MI 49509; the house in which he grew up. Anyone who wishes to come share a story, a photo, or simply to be in the presence of all those who loved Barry are welcomed to attend (visitors are asked to park either directly on 40th Street or in the parking lot of Oriole Park Elementary School [across the street from the house]).
