Barrie Starr passed away on Wednesday, March 29, peacefully in his home. Barrie was born just outside of London, England on February 14, 1935. He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 46 years, Sally, his 6 children, Rick (Angelika), Deborah, Sandra (Jon Gibbons), Douglas, David and Sarah (Nate), 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and his sister, Kathleen Presley (Jack). He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Mae, brother, Edward and his infant son, Robert.
Barrie worked in the printing industry in the bindery for many years and served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Dragoon Division. He lived in London as a child during the blitz until his family emigrated to Windsor, Ontario. He became an American citizen in 1978 and lived the remainder of his life in Detroit, Walled Lake and Holland, Michigan. He was an avid traveler visiting all 50 states, all Canadian provinces and territories as well as many countries. He was a kind and caring man who loved his family and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, April 20th at 1:30 PM, with visitation starting at 1:00, at Weaver House in Pine Bend County Park (15400 Polk St, West Olive, MI).
