On Saturday, July 30, 2022, Barbara "Barb" Wolfson, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of two children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, passed away at age 92.

Barb was born on July 16, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to Louis and Gertrude (Cohen) Friedland. She was a graduate of Buchtel High School and attended Ohio State University. On January 14, 1951, she married Marvin Wolfson. They were married for sixty-nine years and raised two children, Michael and Abby.

Barbara and Marv owned children's shoe stores, aptly called Marv's Shoes, in Kent, Ravenna and Stow, Ohio, where they worked side by side for over forty years. Barbara had a passion for family, friends, and dogs. She loved nothing more than entertaining family and friends and cooking impromptu dinners for anyone who was around at dinner time.

Together with her husband, she spent twenty years volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House of Akron, where Marv set up a fund for patients' families for incidental expenses called the "Barbara Fund". She was known for her understanding and compassionate spirit.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband Marv, and her father and mother, Louis and Gertrude. She is survived by her children, Michael and Abby (m. Richard Sorota); grandchildren Megan (m. Daniel Martin), Matthew, and Mark Wolfson and Benjamin, Addison and Zoe Sorota; and great grandchildren Dash and Emmy Lou Martin; and countless found family members.

A graveside memorial service is being planned for Sunday, October 2 at 10:00am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Akron, OH. Check with Mike or Abby for any updates to that schedule.
