Barbara Lee Begrow, known to her friends and family as Barb, passed away on January 7, 2025 in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 93. She is survived by her stepchildren, Cathy Begrow, Janet Chambers, Chris Begrow, Lee Begrow, Beth Intoccia, Ann Martelli, and ten grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her daughter Sandy Ouradnik Wabschall in 2023, and her husband Harold "Jack" Begrow, who passed in 2019.

Barb was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 19, 1931. She graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1949. Following her high school graduation she attended Stevens Women's College in Columbia, Missouri. Barb was graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in education. While at MSU, she met and married Ward Ouradnik. Barb went on to teach elementary school in the Birmingham, Michigan, School District and she and Ward also ran several restaurants.

In October of 1974 Barb married Jack Begrow, an architect from Charlevoix. During their 45 years of marriage, they enjoyed sailing, skiing and travel despite Barb's rheumatoid arthritis. Barb and Jack had fun on the slopes in Michigan and also spent many years Spring skiing in Vail and Aspen. They loved to travel and went on trips to Africa and Europe. Winters were usually spent in the Virgin Islands or in Florida. Barb was an enthusiastic sailor with Jack and filled the role of "first mate." They loved sailing to the North Channel and to Mackinac Island or Northport. She delighted in bringing aboard wonderful food and beverages, especially for Jack's sailing crew.

Barb was a fabulous cook and she and Jack entertained often. A glass of chardonnay served with soft cheese and crackers started most evenings. Barb had a flair for style which was evident in the décor of her home in Charlevoix and her personal style. As an avid reader, she was often found with a book in her hand.

Barb's lively personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was kind and positive in her approach to life.
