Obituary

Artemas Charles England, age 97, of Wyoming went to be with his Lord Savior on Monday September 2, 2024. Artemas was a 1945 graduate of South High where he earned state championship medals for running broad jump. After High School, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Art met the love of his life Phyllis in front of the theater on Division Ave, in Grand Rapids. Soon after they were married and ready to build a family. In 1963, Art made the forever change to accept Jesus as His Savior and later joined the Heritage Baptist Church where he dedicated his time to be the door greeter every week for many years. He was employed for 37 years at Kelvinator Inc. until his retirement in 1986. Art was proud of his heritage and the history behind his last name which is well known as "England's Point" at Gun Lake in Shelbyville.

Artemas was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Petranella (VanBlooys) England; his wife, Phyllis A. Randall; his sister in-law, Marilyn England; his sons, Randall England and Timothy England; Daughter-in-law Monica (Hiebel) England; Grandchildren, Bruce Anderson and Alicia Christensen. He is survived by his brother, Dennis England; his daughters, Kathryn (Ron) Moore, Linda (Terry) Bartrum, and Amalie England; Daughter In-law Noemi England; his sons, Jamie England, Larry (Sharon) England, Jody (Cindy) England, Cory (Christine) England; 12 Grandchildren, 7 Step-Grandchildren, and many Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, extended Family and Friends.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, September 20 from 12-1pm at Heritage Baptist Church 1570 60th St SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. A memorial service will be held at 1pm, with Pastor David Graef officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to faithhospicecare.org
