Anthony Scott Petersen , age 30, passed away on May 22, 2019 in Byron Center, Michigan. Anthony is survived by his mother, Denise A. Petersen- Castro; his father, Romulo G. Castro; his brothers, Kevin B. Petersen, Romulo G. Castro Jr., and Anthony B. Castro; and his sisters, Angelina D. Castro, Stacey M. Marin Perez, and Frances A. Castro. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Willian O. Porter; his grandmother Maria Mata; and his Grandmother Karen Vukobratovich. Anthony was born on April 24, 1989 in Chicago, IL, to his strong single-mother, Denise A. Petersen; Later, raised by his stepfather Romulo G. Castro. He attended both Hammond High School and George Rogers Clark, graduating from Clark in 2008. He continued to attend Purdue University Calumet to pursue a career in video game development. In 2013, he moved to Byron Center, Michigan and accepted a position as an Associate at Walgreens and worked his way up to Management. Anthony was a great family man and a loving son. He always enjoyed being around family, especially his nieces and nephews. "T" was a caring man, although he may not have always shown it, he always tried to look out for the people he cared for. Anyone who knew Anthony knew how loyal he was to his loved ones. Anthony was a social, loving man who deeply enjoyed video games for much of his life. He enjoyed getting online and playing games with his friends, meeting new people online, and always telling jokes to make everyone laugh. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring man with a huge heart for those he cared for. A memorial service is scheduled to begin with visitation from 1pm-3pm on Sunday, June 2nd, at New Hope Church of Oaklawn in Alsip, Illinois, with the service beginning at 3pm. Pastor Gerry Miller will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Anthony's life. Our family would like to thank everyone for their support at this time, and New Hope Church for accommodating us on such short notice.
