PODEIN, ANN MARIE (Nave) was born 11/12/1926 and passed away 2/25/2019 at age 92. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William George Podein, parents William and Leila Nave and brother Edward Nave. She is survived by brother William Patrick Nave. She will be dearly missed by her children Margaret (Tom) Ackerman, Diane (John) Goodwine, Michael (Claire) Podein, Steven (Lynda) Podein, Thomas (Patti) Podein and grandchildren Erin Klein, David (Felicia) Dykema, Jon Dykema, Becky (Ty) DeYoung, Emily (Jeff) Ackerman, Erica (Nic) Jansma, Amy (Kevin) Rowland, Timothy Goodwine, Steven Goodwine, Jenny Goodwine, Peter (Lindsey) Podein, David (Valerie) Podein, Katherine (Kevin) Podein, Sara (Phil) Nowicki, Kristen Podein and great-grandchildren Dylan Klein, Isabella Dykema, Tommie Ann Howard, Alice Jansma, Ford Podein, Nathaniel Nowicki, Natalie Nowicki and Sophia Nowicki. Ann grew up on the family dairy farm in Lakeview, Michigan and attended a one room school house. She had an adventuresome spirit, at age 18 with two girlfriends, hitchhiked to California and back. Ann enjoyed camping with family and neighbors at Traverse City State Park and dancing at the Casino Club. Ann donated her time to several charities including Santa Claus Girls and serving holiday meals for God's Kitchen. She was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 3/2/2019 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m., located at 2275 Diamond Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Many thanks to the kind and wonderful staff at Clark Retirement on Franklin St. who cared for Ann and made her last years joyful.
