Alvin J Schettl age 97 of Grand Rapids passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016. He is survived by his daughters Nancy and Don Clark and JoAnn Krystiniak; grandchildren Matthew & Rachel Clark, Jessica & Andrew Dettmer, Michele & Jeff Harvey, Brian & Tina Krystiniak, and Sara & Rich Hathaway; 12 great grandchildren; sister Grace Hagene; several in-laws, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives Jane Winslow and Helen Sief and son Gary. Alvin had a joy for life and living and loved starting his day with breakfast! He was an Air Force veteran from WWII. He was a life long golfer and had 12 holes in one. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 26th at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2750 Burton SE with visitation at 10:30 AM. Msgr. Ernest Schneider, Celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank American House Holland, Gentiva Hospice, Sentinel Pointe and Home Watch Care Givers for the excellent care Alvin received. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
