Almeda Givens of Grand Rapids, Michigan (formerly of Sterlington, LA) went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2023.

Almeda was a 1964 graduate of Carroll High School, and received her Bachelor's degree from Southern University and was a proud member of the AKA Sorority.  She went on to get her MSW at Western Michigan University and served as a social worker at the Battle Creek VA and as a medical social worker at Spectrum Health for many years.

She loved to read and adored her grandchildren. She was always kind and generous to everyone - even in her final days at Medilodge.

Almeda is survived by her husband of 26 years, Aaron Givens, her sons, Roderick (Nina) and Vernon (Angie) Spears and grandchildren, Alyssa, Rachel, Hope, Hannah, and Nathan.  She was preceded in death by her parents Willis and Florence Tucker and her son, Nathaniel Spears Jr.

There will be a time of visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow on Friday, July 14th at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508.
