Obituary

Alice Mary Avery, born on May 31, 1936, in Holland, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of James and Violet Verhey and was predeceased by her parents, her brother Lynn (Marilyn) Verhey, and her daughter Elizabeth (Jeff) Laik.

Alice graduated from Bronson School of Nursing in 1956 and later earned a Master's degree from Nazareth College in 1976. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse, serving with compassion and professionalism for many years.

A devoted member of the New Apostolic Church in Wyoming, Michigan, Alice found joy in her faith and served as a choir member. She cherished time spent with family and friends, finding happiness in nature, good food, music, and the company of loved ones.

Alice is survived by her brother John (Carole) Verhey; her sons David (Cheryl) Hinkel and Bruce (Lisa) Hinkel; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with those around her.

A funeral service will be held at the New Apostolic Church, located at 4501 56th St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49418, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
