IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aleta Kay
Lung
July 27, 1963 – February 12, 2025
Aleta Lung, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away tragically on February 9, 2025 leaving a void her family cannot fill!
Aleta was born on July 27, 1963, in Frankfort, Michigan, to Jerry Wayne Lung and Lucinda Kay Lipp. She grew up in Northern Michigan and attended local schools before graduating from Benzie County High School with the class of 1981. In 1986, after the passing of her mother, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her three sisters—Sheila, Samantha, and Cynthia—where she embraced a new chapter of life. She quickly discovered her love for the city and pursued a career in nursing, working in several nursing homes before becoming a mother.
Aleta's greatest joy in life was her children. She welcomed her first daughter, LaJanette, in 1988, followed by Loretta in 1990. She worked tirelessly at Pilgrim Manor for 20 years, balancing her career with the love and care she poured into her family. In 1999 and 2001, she was blessed with two more children, Quentin and Aliyah, completing her family. Aleta's children were her world, and she created countless cherished memories with them—road trips across Michigan, long summer days on the beach, and fun-filled afternoons at parks. She had a vibrant spirit and a deep appreciation for music, often playing her favorite tunes loud enough for all to enjoy. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was sharing a cup of coffee, attending Blues on the Mall downtown, or hosting cookouts. She had a particular fondness for cows and a passion for making those around her feel loved and cared for.
Aleta is survived by her children: LaJanette (David), Loretta, Quentin, and Aliyah; her grandchildren: Trysten, Marte, Micah, Juwell, Breitlin, Khloe, Aubree, Quentin Jr., and Messiah; her sisters, Sheila and Samantha Lung; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and close friends, including Belinda, Patti, Carol, and Laura who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucinda Lipp and Jerry Lung; her baby sister, Cynthia Lung; her first love, Ladon Russell; and her children's father, Jerry Dear.
Aleta's love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
