Albert Whitler, 84, passed away in his home of Wyoming, Michigan on January 25th, 2018. A small, family burial service will precede the Memorial celebration. The Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at Cooper Memorial Methodist Church, 9901 Cooper Church Drive, Okolona, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Faye Whitler (Millard). He is survived by his son, Chris Whitler and wife Amie Whitler; his daughter, Christianne Buehler; his siblings, Mary Lou Pentecost and Richard Whitler; and his grandchildren, Wesley and wife Nicole, Andrew, Grace, Joshua, Alyson, Samuel, Emma Carol, and Stella. Albert was born in Cloverport, Kentucky to James Marcus Whitler and Stella Keown on June 20th, 1933. He married Carol Faye Millard on October 19th, 1962 at Cooper Memorial Methodist Church. He graduated with a Master's in Music from Indiana University. He was a music professor at several universities and taught Elementary Music Education; he was considered an ORFF specialist. He was also a gifted Bible teacher. He served as a chaplain's assistant in the Korean War. Albert's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those who have been prayer support over his decade of sickness; your kind words and prayers made a difference. In lieu of flowers, Albert's wishes were for gifts to be made in his honor to missionary endeavors or to the Gideons International.
