Albert Kessel of Luther MI, age 68, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kristine Kessel (Seeley), their 9 children; Chantelle Kessel, Erin (Shane) Killgore, Lindsey (Robert) Wagar, Miranda (Ethan Thomas) Kessel, Joel (Kara) Kessel, Robert (Meghan) Kessel, Katherine, Scott, Autumn, his sister; Johanna (David) Bosma, Mother-in-law; Shirley Seeley, brothers/sisters-in-law; Marty (Sharon) Seeley, Connie (Rob) Wybenga, Craig Seeley, Robin (Kevin) Robinson, Kyle (Maureen) Seeley, Darrin (Sherrie) Seeley, his very special Uncle; Elin (Jean) Reed, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson, along with many extended family members that he deeply cared for. He also leaves behind his fur babies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Mary Ellen (Reed) Kessel, brother John & sister-in-law Esta Kessel, sister-in-law Patricia Seeley, and father-in-law Lloyd Seeley. Albert grew up in Luther Michigan, and moved to the GR area after high school. After working at a few tool & die shops, he settled at General Motors until he retired in 2007. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock collecting, and spending time with his family. He was a great mentor, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He always put everybody before himself. He was a great story teller and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed maintaining his fields with the help of his BFF Rob (when he would share his tractor) He also loved to make spontaneous road trips, whether to Traverse City, a 30 mile trip to the nearest Biggby Coffee Shop, or surprise visits to his childrens' homes. He was very unaware of the HUGE impact he had on everyone he met. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm, and Friday, April 7 from 11:00 am with a memorial service following at 12:00 noon, all at Ofield Funeral Home at 4500 Kalamazoo SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. Envelopes from Hospice of Michigan will be available for those choosing donation in lieu of flowers. A second service will be held in Luther, details pending.
