Obituary

Adam Junior Holbrook, affectionately known as AJ to all who knew him, embarked on his final fishing trip to the great beyond on June 6, 2025. Born on May 31, 1991, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, AJ's zest for life and the great outdoors was evident from the get-go. He was the kind of guy who could reel in a crowd with his humor just as easily as he could hook a fish.

AJ's adventures began early, with his Pa, Sonny, teaching him to cast a fishing pole at the tender age of two. This sparked a lifelong passion for fishing - if it had gills, AJ was interested. His love for the wild didn't stop at the water's edge; by six, he was already a seasoned hunter, having bagged his first deer. With his trusty hunting dogs by his side, AJ was the quintessential outdoorsman.

Growing up in a bustling household, AJ was surrounded by an eclectic mix of family members who were as lively as they were loving. His mom Connie, stepdad Ken, and a brigade of siblings, step-siblings, and half-siblings, including Kyle, Abi, Kenny, Cody, and Mariah, all added to the colorful tapestry of his life. AJ's fiancee, Ashlie Hawley, was the love of his life and his partner in shenanigans. The legacy of laughter and love he leaves behind is also carried on by his adored nieces and nephews, including Logan, Hadley, Kingsley, Aubrey, Paisley, Alyvia, and Averi, and his cherished grandparents, Sonny and Donna McNees, and Grandma Donna Holbrook.

AJ was a proud graduate of the class of 2010, and he carried the same tenacity he had in the woods into his professional life. He started working for North Kent Well and Pump, but it wasn't long before he climbed the ranks to become a lineman for fiber optic cable, proving that he could keep us all connected in more ways than one.

But let's not forget AJ's other talent - being the life of the party. Whether he was playing softball with his brothers, stepdad, cousins, and friends, or just stirring up a little trouble (because what's a party without a little mischief?), AJ was the spark that lit up any gathering. His laughter was infectious, his stories were legendary, and if you didn't leave with a side stitch from laughing, you hadn't truly experienced AJ's humor.

AJ's departure was as sudden as one of his quick-witted jokes, leaving us all a bit breathless from the shock. He was preceded in death by his dad, Adam, grandpa Ken Holbrook, uncle Chad Holbrook, and niece Emma Mitz. While his passing has cast a shadow, we know that somewhere up there, he's probably already telling tall tales, setting up deer stands, and yes, causing a ruckus in the celestial realms.

Uncle Larry, Aunt Cheri Keech, Uncle Rocky, Aunt Ginger Holbrook, Uncle Tony, and many cousins will miss AJ's larger-than-life presence. As will his three fur babies, Bonnie, Cash, and Ruger, who were more than just pets; they were his loyal sidekicks in all his escapades.

AJ's life was a testament to joy, laughter, and the great outdoors. As we bid farewell to a man who was as unforgettable as he was irreverent, let's honor his memory by casting a let's honor his memory by casting a line, sharing a joke, and living life with the same passion AJ had. Tight lines, AJ, until we meet again.
