Michael "Mike" Olmstead, 66, of Richland, Michigan, passed away on
March 12, 2024. He was born on March 16, 1957, in Battle Creek, Michigan
to Mildred and Donald Olmstead.
He married the love of his life, his wife Joyce(McCormick) Olmstead on
May 16, 1992 and they shared 32 years of great adventures together. In
addition to Joyce, Mike is survived by their lab/hound rescue dog Grady,
many in-laws, several nieces and nephews, many loyal friends and
extended family members. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike was a dedicated master electrician and a master craftsman. After
completing the Union Apprenticeship, he worked with IBEW Local 131 for
10 years and Upjohn/Pfizer/Zoetis for 32 years, where he displayed his
strong work ethic and commitment to helping others. He retired in July of
2021. Outside of work, he found joy in salmon fishing, boating, golfing,
camping, hunting and spending time with his beloved wife and dogs. His
love of travel, cruising and the outdoors kept him active and enjoying life.
He will be remembered for his hard-working nature, his willingness to lend
a helping hand, and his passion for his hobbies. He loved sharing his
passion for salmon fishing for years every August with family and friends on
his boat in Manistee. Nothing made him happier than helping someone reel
in a big fish and helping them land it in the net. He was a great teacher and
had such a savvy way of explaining things.
If you wish to make a memorial donation, the family requests donations be
made to Lending Hands of Michigan, Portage.
