Wayne Ball Obituary

Wayne. A Ball, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22nd 2017, surrounded by family and friends, at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born August 13th, 1945 in Adrian, MI. To Clarence B. Ball and Loretta Elizabeth Bussing. He was the youngest surviving sibling of 14 children. After high school he enlisted in the Army in 1964. After serving in Viet Nam, he pursued his education and graduated from Siena Heights College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in religion studies. He made history at that school for being the first male student admitted. Two years after graduating he went to St Johns Provincial Seminary to become a priest. While on sabbatical.... he met the woman of his dreams on July 22, 1977 and they were engaged on his birthday August 13 1977 and married Patricia O'Keefe on December 30th 1977. He served a second term in the US Army 1980-1987 which included being stationed in South Korea to help with peace keeping and religion education. Wayne was very involved in church activities including catechism teacher, Knights of Columbus, and Sacristan. He is survived by his wife, children Sean A. Ball (Brooke Figueroa) Rachael Sowers (Jacob Sowers) and Roger Ball. His grandchildren Camden, Bradlieh, Jaycey, and Bryson, and his extended family which includes the congregation of St Mary Magdalen's church. Services will be held at St Mary Magdalen's Church on October 25. Visitation is at 10:00 am with the Life Celebration Service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to pulmonaryfibrosis.org. This foundation is dedicated to finding a cause, better treatments and a cure for this disease.
