Peter Visser Jr, passed away quietly at home on the morning of February 6, 2017 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Tiny, his brothers Preston, Roy , Gillis, sisters Hattie (Pat) and Lee,. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his children, Terrie (Doug) Reintges, Debra (Bryan) Brower and Peter (Bridget) Visser III.and his sisters Alida Little and Tressa (William) Griffin, grandchildren, Elizabeth Mule, Ryan Brower, Melanie Brower, Dana (Matt) Kantowski and great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Kantowski and many nieces and nephews. A child of the depression, Pete's strong work ethic surfaced early in life ; as a young man, rising early to begin a large paper route whose earnings were used to help his struggling family. A veteran of World War II, Pete served in the Army as a surgical nurse with aspirations of becoming a doctor, before returning home to begin what would be a lifelong career in the automotive industry, where he spent 37 years as a Tool and Die maker at General Motors. His tool and die skills made of him a creative artist as he could fix or create anything with plastics, but where he really shined was on the dance floor with Tiny whom he met during their rollerskating years at Ramona Park. Pete and Tiny took their talents on skates to the dance floor where they became proficient ballroom dancers. They were greatly blessed to be able to share their love of dance with a wonderful circle of friends with whom they spent many happy dancing years before retirement took them to Arizona during the winter months. We shall miss his wisdom, optimism and simple faith that sustained him through the many infirmities he bravely endured with the aging process and are happy knowing he is now free of pain and finally reunited with his eternal dancing partner. The family will meet with friends and family one hour prior to a memorial which will begin at 4:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 12th at Ofield Funeral Home brother-in-law William Griffin, officiating.
