Opal Meekhof

Opal L Meekhof, nee Wiederhold, 82, of Grand Rapids, passed away at home, on Thursday, May 25th, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald George; parents, Vergil & Metha; and siblings, Vera Ollmann and Verne. She is lovingly remembered by: her daughters, Bernice Rosenberger and Bambi (Darrell) VanDenburg; long time friend, Larry Hornstra and his children, Kelly, Lori, and Tim; grandchildren, Misti Zeigler, Don Zeigler,Jr. and Joshua Rosenberger; great-granddaughters, Brittany, Paris, Darby, and Raven; siblings, Theodore (Janet), Bonnie Wingo, Kay (Bob) Woodling, Aaron, Neal (Barb), Debi (Kevin) Bonz, and Faith (Steve) Harris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Opal had a gift for crochet and shared her talent with all. After raising her family and caring for Don through his long battle with multiple sclerosis, she embarked on new adventures including travel to visit her family and friends; and with Larry, she operated a concession wagon at fairs across northern Wisconsin and Michigan and visited Alaska. A funeral service for Opal will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 31st, with viewing one hour prior, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE in Kentwood. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Hospice, CurePSP, or the charity of one's choice, are appreciated.
