Eric James Elam

Eric James Elam, age 48, of Wyoming, Michigan passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017. Eric was born to James Edward and Donna Lee Elam on August 22nd 1968, in Inglewood, CA. After enlisting at just 17, he was a Corpsman in the US Navy, and served as a medic with the 1st Division Marines in Desert Storm, Gulf War. He reenlisted and continued his Navy career working in the San Diego Naval Hospital where he earned the rank of Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class. Eric loved to laugh, make other people laugh, and he loved to have fun. Most importantly, Eric loved. He was a beloved fiancé, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Grieving his loss, and remembering him for the rest of their days are his fiancé Shannon Kruer, his father James Elam, his mother Donna Lee Elam, his stepmother Mary Jo Elam, grandfather Raymond Schwartz, grandmother Blanche Schluter, siblings Shawn Elam, Chad (Kelsey) Elam, Scott (Keri) Elam and Melissa (Mark) Flockhart, nieces Alyssa, Kaylee, Malia, Marlo, Annabel and Maeli, nephew Logan, aunts (and uncles) Greta Elam, Sue Elam, Emma (Alan) Johnston, Arlene (Paul) Amorino, Sheila Mergeanian, Vicki (Kris) Berquist, Karen (Tom) Kubisiak, Jeanne (Wayne) Bobbe, great uncle Sylvester Rebischke, great aunts Ruth Rebischke and Josephine Romanski, and many cousins and friends. May our faith, family and cherished memories surround us as we all struggle to learn how to live life without you here. The family will accept visitors at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave, Kentwood MI 49508, on Monday August 14 from 5-6pm, with a memorial service beginning at 6pm.
